The Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship is a National Championship in young Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) drivers demonstrate their skills with the goal of winning a RIB – a 5m Ribcraft or a Honwave T40 – for their club
There are two age-groups – 8-12 years and 13-16 years – and the competition takes the form of a time trial around a set of marks with the fastest time winning.

The role of the Honda Youth RIB Challenge coordinator is to promote and help run the regional finals and to support clubs with running their own HYRC training and events.

How does it work?
- Local Heats – any RYA affiliated club, centre or organisation can hold a local heat. They run a competition at their premises, using their own boats, from which they put forward their winners, in one or both of the age categories, to the Regional Final. Guidelines and Sample Course.
- Regional Final – there are 15 Regional Finals staged nationwide from which the winners in each age-group go through to the National Final. The 2010 East Midlands Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship Regional Final takes place on Saturday 12 June at Notts County Sailing Club, Nottinghamshire. Entry Form for regional final.
- National Final - the National Final of the 2010 Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship will be held at the PSP Southampton Boat Show on Sunday 12 September. The winner of the 8-12 age group will win a Honwave T40 RIB with a Honda BF20 engine for their club and the winner of the 13-16 age group will win a 5m Ribcraft RIB with a Honda BF60 engine for theirs.
