Wavelength

If you run an RYA training centre or are an RYA instructor, coach, trainer or examiner in any of the RYA training schemes, you should receive Wavelength, the RYA's coach and instructor newsletter, each Spring through the post, and twice a year via email.

If you haven't been receiving the online issues the RYA probably doesn't have your current email address. Please email your name and membership number so that they can update their records.

Back issues, going back to Spring 2005 are available here.

Safety & Power Lines

Central Networks is the company responsible for the distribution equipment that carries electricity across the East and West Midlands. The company has responsibility to its customers to make them aware of the potential dangers of coming into contact with its equipment and with this in mind they have created the attached leaflet for sailors. It seems obvious that when wheeling a boat with a tall mast to the waters edge to look out for overhead power lines but often in eagerness to begin sailing such things are overlooked. Incidents involving boats and power lines are rare but when they do happen the consequences can be fatal. The information in the leaflet will help you and your members to stay safe.

Further copies of the leaflet are available free of charge. It may be that your club does not have any power lines crossing the car park or site but maybe some of your members choose to sail or windsurf at other locations which do and so the leaflet may be of use to them.

Please take time to read the leaflet and let Anita Mellor know if you require hard copies, how many and where to post them to and she will be happy to send them to you.

If you have any questions regarding the leaflet then please contact Anita Mellor, Public Safety & Cablesafe Manager, Central Networks.
